The method, in order
Step 01

The interview

We learn your brand by talking, not typing.

Most tools ask you to fill out a form about your brand. Fieldnote interviews you instead, out loud if you want, with your answers captured word for word. It takes about 20 minutes, and you can pause and come back anytime.

Four parts, each one smarter than the last because it builds on what you just said:

  • →Part 1 · Brand foundations: what you do, who you serve, what makes you different.
  • →Part 2 · Your audience: one real person, not a demographic blob, and what they're up against.
  • →Part 3 · Content pillars & comfort: pick your topics and set sliders for the formats you actually enjoy (talking to camera, writing posts, showing your face...).
  • →Part 4 · Tone of voice: quick “this or that” calls plus a red-pen pass where you say what you'd never post and what you'd always post.
Step 02

Story sessions

You talk. Fieldnote listens for the story underneath the summary.

Once the interview is done, the strategist starts pulling stories out of you with short prompts: everyday moments, wins, messes, turning points. You answer by voice, just like leaving a memo for a friend.

Every answer is checked against the five elements of social storytelling:

  • →The Hook · stop the scroll.
  • →POV · your personal experience.
  • →Tension · a reason to keep watching.
  • →Pay off · the lesson learned.
  • →CTA · give your viewer a next step.

If an element is missing, you get up to three gentle follow-up questions. Real ones, about your life, not an interrogation. When a story has all five, it's marked Story-ready and filed in your bank.

Prefer writing? Type your answers instead. The interview reads questions on screen by default; flip on “Read aloud” and it speaks them.

A story without the hook never gets watched. A story without the CTA never gets shared. We check for all five, every time.

Step 03

The story bank

Every story, kept verbatim, ready to post.

Your bank is the raw material of everything you publish. Stories go in from three places:

  • →Story sessions: worked through live with follow-up probes.
  • →Uploaded voice memos: record a messy note to a friend, upload the audio, and Fieldnote transcribes it word for word, checks the five elements, and asks follow-ups if anything's missing.
  • →Texted voice memos: link your phone number once, then text a memo to your Fieldnote number. It lands in your bank within about 30 seconds, transcribed and evaluated, with follow-up questions texted back.

Stories stay In progress until they're Story-ready. Your spoken words are kept verbatim, the best phrases get highlighted as quotes, and everything is tagged so you can pull up “the one about quitting” in seconds.

Step 04

The studio

Stories become scripts, in your voice, not the internet's.

Pick a story from your bank and turn it into any of five formats:

  • →Reel scripts: hook, beats, on-screen text and captions.
  • →X threads: hook post first, thread that earns the read.
  • →LinkedIn posts: thought leadership with the summary stripped out.
  • →Carousel outlines: slide by slide, first slide built to stop the scroll.
  • →Text-on-screen quotes: direct quotes from your words and relevant quotes in your voice, each tagged for a reel or a carousel with a suggested visual.

Every script is built around the five story elements. The phrases you'd actually say (the “gold nuggets” from your own telling) are preserved verbatim, not paraphrased into LinkedIn-speak.

Step 05

The red pen

Edit a draft once, and Fieldnote learns.

Nothing ships until it sounds like you. Mark up any draft with the red pen: circle a word you hate, underline a phrase you love, and the strategist keeps both lists. Over time the scripts stop making the mistakes you'd have to fix and start leaning into the phrasing you'd have chosen yourself.

Step 06

The voice library

Show it how you already write.

Drop in anything you've written (a newsletter, a tone-of-voice doc, a rant, a link to your about page) or a PDF of it all. Fieldnote reads it all so the strategist copies how you actually write and treats your background as fact, not flavor.

Meet your strategist

Built by a real strategist, not a content machine.

Fieldnote isn't a tech company's guess at what content should be. It was built by Caroline Huntley, a Los Angeles brand and social strategist with over a decade of experience and the founder of Huntley Studio, an independent creative agency that plans, scripts, films and manages social-first content for remarkable people and businesses.

Everything in this software is the process she has used with dozens of real clients to grow their accounts: the voice interview, the five story elements, the verbatim story bank, the red pen. The same intuitive, story-first method she runs one-on-one, now walking you through it step by step every time you sit down to create.
